Archive of Qualifying Tests and Sample Questions for The Math Game

The Math Game (formerly Who Wants to Be a Mathematician) was active with regional and national games from 2001-2020. Below are links to qualifying tests and sample questions from 2010-2019.

For each year, there is a version without answers and a key with answers. From 2016-2019 , Art of Problem Solving, the former Online Community Sponsor, hosted a Math Jam--an online chat--about the tests. Transcripts of those jams, which include fully worked solutions, are linked to below.

The indicated year is the year that the championship game, which takes place in January at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, was held. So, for example, the 2018 test was taken by students in the fall of 2017 to qualify for the championship game in January 2018. Until 2013 there was only one round of testing; since 2014 we've had two rounds of tests. Note: Tests for regional games are the same level of difficulty as the Round One tests from 2014 on.
