Quantum/Affine Schubert CalculusMonth: August 2013 Date: August 5--9 Name: Quantum/Affine Schubert Calculus Location: University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon. DescriptionThe goal of this workshop will be to understand the ring isomorphism (after localization) between the quantum cohomology of the flag variety and the homology ring of the affine Grassmannian. This result was asserted in unpublished notes by Dale Peterson, and later formalized and proven by Thomas Lam and Mark Shimozono. Along the way, we will learn about Schubert calculus, equivariant cohomology, quantum cohomology, the affine Grassmannian, and the Toda lattice, with an emphasis on concrete examples and computations.
