Journal overview: This journal is devoted to the publication of research in all areas of pure and applied mathematics. Manuscripts accepted for publication are similar in nature to those published in Transactions of the American Mathematical Society and meet the same editorial requirements. To be accepted by the editorial board, manuscripts must be correct, new, and significant. Further, they must be well written and of interest to a substantial number of mathematicians. Papers appearing in Memoirs are generally at least 80 and not more than 200 published pages in length. Papers less than 80 or more than 200 published pages require the approval of the Managing Editor of the Transactions/Memoirs Editorial Board. Each number contains either a single monograph or a group of related papers.

Submission information: Information can be found on the journal's Submission for Peer Review page.

Copying and reprinting: Material in this journal may be reproduced by any means for educational and scientific purposes without fee or permission with the exception of reproduction by services that collect fees for delivery of documents and provided that the customary acknowledgment of the source is given. This consent does not extend to other kinds of copying for general distribution, for advertising or promotional purposes, or for resale. Requests for permission for commercial use of material should be addressed to the Acquisitions Department, American Mathematical Society, 201 Charles Street, Providence, RI 02904-2294 USA. Requests can also be made by email: request reprint permission.

Excluded from these provisions is material in articles for which the author holds copyright. In such cases, requests for permission to use or reprint should be addressed directly to the author(s). Copyright ownership is indicated on the copyright page of each number.

Publishing cycle and indexing notes: Memoirs of the American Mathematical Society consists of six published volumes per year, each typically containing four or more numbers. Memoir articles are posted individually to the AMS website before publication. Beginning in January 2010, Memoirs is accessible from http://www.ams.org/memo. This journal is indexed in Mathematical Reviews®, Zentralblatt MATH, Science Citation Index®, SciSearch, Research Alert, CompuMath Citation Index®, Current Contents®, Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences, Portico, and CLOCKSS.

Subscriptions: Subscriptions to this journal can be obtained through the AMS Bookstore. Subscriptions and orders can also be addressed to the American Mathematical Society, P.O. Box 845904, Boston, MA 02284-5904 USA. All orders must be accompanied by payment. Other correspondence should be addressed to American Mathematical Society, 201 Charles Street, Providence, RI 02904-2294 USA.

Backlog information: As of April 30, 2012 the backlog for this journal was approximately 8 volumes. This estimate is the result of dividing the number of manuscripts for this journal in the Providence office that have not yet gone to the printer on the above date by the average number of monographs per volume over the previous twelve months, reduced by the number of volumes published in four months (the time necessary for processing a typical volume). In an effort to make articles available as quickly as possible, articles are posted to the AMS website individually before appearing in print.

Offprint information:  Offprints are provided free of charge in electronic form to all authors.  A downloadable and printable PDF version of each Memoir, including covers, is available from the AMS website following print publication. Notification email containing access information is sent to all authors as soon as a volume is published in print. This electronic delivery system provides authors with permanent electronic access to their published material. In addition to an electronic offprint, Memoirs of the AMS authors also receive five (5) complimentary copies of their printed Memoir.

Inquiries: Any inquiries concerning a paper that has been accepted for publication should be sent by email or by postal mail to the Electronic PrePress Department, American Mathematical Society, 201 Charles Street, Providence, RI 02904-2294 USA.
