Supporting Educational Initiatives

Two undergraduates present their research at JMM 2019

The AMS supports programs for pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate education that nurture mathematical talent and focus on every young mathematician's potential to learn and be successful. All programs focus on the belief that through education, opportunities are created.

Young Scholars

The AMS Young Scholars Programs, supported by the Epsilon Fund grants provide funding support and recognition for programs that focus on pre-college students and which encourage mathematically engaged students to think broadly and creatively about mathematics and its applications.

Graduate School

Are you thinking about graduate school in the mathematical sciences? Find Graduate Programs offers comparative information on over 500 graduate programs in the U.S. categorized by degree level, geography and specialization. Also, visit the guide Graduate School: Considering & Choosing.

Teaching

Have questions about teaching mathematics in the classroom? Professors, graduate students, and education researchers can explore helpful teaching resources on the subject of mathematics education and can glean hands-on advice on teaching mathematics. The AMS also has several programs that provide support and networking for leaders of academic departments of mathematics.

STEMM

To address the national imperative of training more well-prepared STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine) graduates, the AMS is showcasing creative academic programs in order to encourage more innovation and collaboration in college-level mathematics teaching. Undergraduate mathematics departments are encouraged to share their ideas and experiences with the AMS to further this effort.
