The magazine's Education Issue includes a brief profile of Steven Byrnes of Lexington, Massachusetts, who has proved a new mathematical theorem: "Poset Game Periodicity Theorem." His work earned him the Siemens Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science and Technology and US$100,000 scholarship. He was also a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search and last year was the only student to win both the math and physics National Olympiad competitions. Byrnes attends Harvard now.
