East Tennessee State University to Host Mathematics Meeting

Providence, RI—East Tennessee State University will host the Fall 2005 Southeast Section Meeting of the American Mathematical Society October 15-16. Approximately 200 mathematicians from 32 states and 6 countries will gather at the university for the meeting.

Department of Mathematics participation in the meeting :

There are two talks at the meeting by faculty in the university’s Department of Mathematics. Those speakers are: Debra Knisley and George D. Poole.

Two mathematics faculty members are co-authors of talks: Teresa Haynes and Jeff Knisley, who is a co-author of two talks.

Four mathematics department faculty members are organizing sessions at the meeting. Session organizers are: Robert Gardner, Michel Helfgott, Debra Knisley, and Frederick Norwood.

Changbin Guo, a mathematics graduate student, and Michael D. Phillips, a mathematics undergraduate, are also giving talks at the meeting.

Participation in the meeting by university personnel from outside the Department of Mathematics :

Department of Public Health: Tiejian Wu will be giving a talk and is organizing a session at the meeting.

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology: Yue Zou is co-author of a talk.

Department of Biological Sciences: Istvan Karsai is also a co-author of a talk at the meeting.
