Selected Highlights of the 2006 Joint Mathematics Meetings

Over 5,000 mathematicians, exhibitors and guests attended the 2006 Joint Mathematics Meetings of the American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of America, held in San Antonio, Texas, January 12-15. There were nearly 1,700 presentations--invited addresses, special and contributed paper sessions, poster sessions--as well as exhibits, the Prize Session, Mathematical Sciences Employment Center, receptions, business meetings and more. The Association for Symbolic Logic, the Association for Women in Mathematics, the National Science Foundation, Pi Mu Epsilon, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the Young Mathematicians Network also held meetings and hosted sessions.

The Joint Mathematics Meetings are held for the purpose of advancing mathematical achievement, encouraging research, and providing the communication necessary for progress in the field. These meetings serve to preserve, supplement, and utilize the results of the research of mathematicians worldwide.
