Policy Statement on Peer-reviewed Research

The Council of the American Mathematical Society strongly supports peer-reviewed research. As a community, we cherish robust debate on scientific issues. Critique of scholarly work requires analysis of the original text and cannot rely solely on news media reports or social media comments. Personal attacks and criticisms of scholarship based on the identity of the scholar have no place in mathematics or its discourse.

Adopted by the Council in April 2018 so as to speak in the name of the American Mathematical Society.
